The Narrows in Zion
A field note from the Virgin River in Zion — water, walls, and why the best of this park is still on the trail.
The best parts of Zion are on the trails. The Narrows is the one people mean when they say that. You are in the Virgin River, the walls close in, and you make pictures with wet feet and a camera you are willing to care for. It is not a viewpoint you pull into.
I have had a lot of adventures out photographing. This is one of them. The portfolio those frames belong to is on the Zion page, with the rest of the canyon and the fall work. If you want the season rather than the river, Photographing Zion in the fall is the other door.
