West Fork is in Oak Creek Canyon north of Sedona, a tributary to Oak Creek. The hike is easy for the most part. Bring shoes you do not mind getting wet — the trail crosses the creek many times. After about three miles you wade or swim some of the pools, and the trail is a little harder to follow.
Fall is usually the second or third week of October. Many of the maples can go a brilliant red. Weekdays are the time to hike it. It is a popular trail and it fills on weekends. This portfolio is that canyon in color, and the quieter days I could get it.
