Sierra Anchas

I first photographed this country in 1993. It is off the beaten track — north of Roosevelt Lake, near Globe. There are bigtooth maples. Fall runs from the third week of October into the first week of November, depending on the year.

The swirl pictures are leaves moving in a pool of water, the sheet of film open for three to five minutes. None of them are digitally altered in Photoshop. That is just what the water did while the shutter was open. The field note for those frames is in the journal.
