How the prints are made

The primary cameras are an Arca-Swiss 4×5 view camera and a Hasselblad 500CM. Sheet film and a 6×6 negative still matter here. They hold the information I want in a print, and they slow the work down enough that you compose in the camera instead of later.

All of the photographic prints are printed by the artist using a traditional color enlarger. None of the prints are inkjets. That is not nostalgia for its own sake. An enlarger print has a surface and a color that I know, and I can stand over it until it is right.

Some of the black-and-white work is infrared film — Kodak High Speed Infrared while it lasted, Konica when I can find it, and other stocks from Freestyle. A 25 red filter, focus shifted to the infrared mark, often in the middle of the day when traditional color is at its worst. That story is in the journal: Black and white infrared.

If you want to live with a print, the shop is the catalog. If you want the place first, use locations.
